Congresshas to choose whether or not to focus on the war or to focus on health care. Obama's new plan involves sending more troops to Afghan. People disagree with his plan because they feel that the U.S. is basically doing everything. They believe that the U.S. itself won't be able to win the war; they need the support from other countries and from Afghanistan itself. Afghanistan is working on raising its security, and allied forces have stated that they are willing to provide troops to support the U.S. forces. In order to pay for the war, they want to pass a bill to set up a war tax. Everyone will pay this tax except for the troops and their families. Congress wants to focus on the war and leave healthcare for next year. This could be for two reasons. One they really want to end the war, which is good. The other is that republicans might see this as an opportunity to stall health care reform, decreasing its momentum. The truth is that I believe that they should focus on ending the war first. The war has gone on for too long, and too many lives have been lost. I also believe that the U.S. will need help, but I wouldn't say it's not other countries' responsibility to help us. The U.S. had some fault in getting involved in a war unprepared, other countries don't have to get involved if they don't want to.

This Video Contains Strong Language...but it's funny.

This is a video by the "young turks." The host comment's on O' Reilly's statement. After seeing the website, even before that, i could tell that young turks is a democratic show. From previous experience i'm assuming that republican's watch O'Reilly. Why? Well it's because republicans, or at least that's what is said, watch fox news and republicans run it. Now, I'm guessing democrats also watch it. Might be that they want to know the other side's arguements, which is good. Others are just looking for them to mess up and exploit it. Like the i posted before this one. I'm not using for a political purpose, i'm using it because it's funny to see someone who is a proffessional get mad and just snap. Yes it happens to everyone but it's more rare to catch well known people doing it during a show.

Another Young Turks video. I'm assuming that his show was seen by Republicans because it's stated that he was agaisnt Immigration. A lot of people hated him, which i'm assuming are mostly Democrats. Youn Turks are democratic, from what i've seen, so I'm assuming that they are making it seem as though almost everyone hates Lou Dobbs. I'm sure there is a large population that believes Dobbs is right.

As soon as I opened the Media Research Center page I recieved an offer to sign up and support the fight against "liberal media bias." Ironic because the want to end liberal bias, when they are being biased themselves. Both sites are meant to stop bias in the madiea. Media research center apparently focuses on the liberal media, while FAIR supposedly foucses on all media. The Media Research Center wrote an article celebrating the 20th anniversary of the berlin wall's fall. Throughout the article they quoted Reporters,News Anchors, and others for statements supporting communism. they began by stating that some journalists were influenced by the "evils" of communism. That is bias. They don't want to be bias, but they are. I understand, it's difficult to write an article without having their beliefs affect it. Still, they shouldn't state that they want to end liberal bias, and all they are doing is being bias against them. FAIR believes that main-stream media needs to be reformed. It is bias. It has a Democratic influence.

Pol Car

The H1 N1 epidemic had a lot of people terrified. On of the recommended actions was to wash your hands frequently with hand sanitizer. The Image shows that person is so terrified that they won't touch loved ones. The hand sanitizer is to show he "wants" to be with her and touch her (not inappropriately people), just that he has to be cautious.

Kim is compared to the "balloon Boy" scandal. They are saying that Kim is bluffing about having nukes. He just wants the attention. Just like the family in balloon boy, they were doing it for publicity.

Democrats feel that the republican's are more dangerous than a person who could be a terrorist; hence the I love suicide bombers shirt. they depict what a stereotypical republican looks like, white collar, NRA member, and religious. also people are blaming muslims a lot that when they might actually do something, people are too afraid to blame them.
this cartoon is likely made by a republican. Obama was suppose to fix or "heal" the economy. this cartoon states that he is actually letting it die and then he will leave it on it's own. he will say that it is fixed, but really it's even worse than before.

Obama Urges People to Serve the Community

Obama told Americans that there is so much that the government can do to fix the nation's problems. Obama said,"The need for action always exceeds the limits of government, while there's plenty that government can and must do ... there's a lot that government can't and shouldn't do and that's where active, engaged citizens come in." he has a point, people want the government to not have a lot of power over the people, but they want them to fix their problems. People are becoming more dependent on the government. The event celebrated the 20th anniversary of George H.W. Bush's Daily Point of Life award, which celebrated individuals who have helped their communities. Obama stated that Bush "didn't call for one blinding light to shine from Washington, but for a vast galaxy of people and institutions to solve problems in their own backyards." Obama looks forward to the future because the newer generations are participating in service activities more. Protesters were present criticizing Obama, even though Bush said the event wasn't political. Obama and Bush are right, never thought i would say that, people shouldn't blame Obama for anything if they aren't doing anything themselves. People need to help each other at a time like this. It's queer that people that the only time people help each other is when a disaster strikes. i say we help each other before another disaster strikes.

Liberal

Yep, I'm a liberal. Not really surprised. I knew I had some liberal ideas. I think different people from different areas will get different things. It wouldn't be a surprise if a lot of people from my school got liberal. It's hard to believe that people who live in a "united" country, are divided by their ideas. how different people believe that they believe the right thing, because they haven't tried the other thing. they live in areas where other people believe the same ideas. I believe that the government should help people, while others strongly believe they shouldn't.

Guantanamo may not close

Guantanamo might not close on January like Obama wanted to. this is due to the long process of reviewing each detainees' files. Obama wants to close the prison, because it so is crucial to restore America's view in the world and "to [create] a more effective anti-terror approach." Some of the problems that came with closing the prison were what new rules would military trials have to follow, where the detainees are going to be transferred to, and countries where the ones that are released can be sent to. Both the Democrats and the Republicans believe that it's a bad idea to close the prison. Democrats because Obama's plan isn't clear. Republicans because it's too dangerous at this time. Congress is not funding Obama's plan. The Justice Department and the Pentagon will work together to decide which detainees should be tried in military courts and which in civilian courts. On November sixteen, it will be known which detainees will be prosecuted. Why would Obama want to close a prison where "dangerous" people are being held. some might not deserve it, but why close the prison so quickly. Guantanamo is probably a safer place to have those prisoners because it's in an isolated are and not in an area surrounded by civilians.

Health Care will cost the U.S. money

The new Health Care bill will make big changes. one of the changes is to buy health care or be fined. Why would they be fined? there's no real logic to this, unless they are doing it to make up some of the $856 billion the new health care will cost the u.s. the people have wanted health care to change, but why force them to buy it? it's ironic how they are planning to pay for this new health care system by cutting government health programs. they are also going to make new taxes and fees. this is controversial because people usually obtain a negative opinion on anything that will create new taxes. it wouldn't be surprising if this bill lost some support when the new taxes were mentioned. the bill doesn't include Obama's plan to have a government-runed insurance plan. the bill will not allow illegal immigrants to obtain health coverage through the new health care system. this is hypocritical, the Constitution says that life can't be taken away. if an illegal immigrant's life depends on whether or not their health care covers it, and they aren't allowed to have any and die, wouldn't that technically be the government taking away some one's right to life? or the equal protection clause, why only keep certain people from being covered. so criminals can get health coverage because they are legal but a honest hard working illegal immigrant can't because they aren't legal? that's not fair at all. Federal funds won't pay for abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or the mother's life is in danger. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, stated that the bill doesn't makes sense. she states, "This partisan proposal cuts Medicare by nearly a half-trillion dollars, and puts massive new tax burdens on families and small businesses, to create yet another thousand-page, trillion-dollar government program. Only in Washington would anyone think that makes sense, especially in this economy." i would have to agree. yes it makes health care more affordable, but that money that isn't used will be used to pay those new taxes.

White House 's proposal might ban illegal immigrants from getting health care, even some provided by private companies. The new exchange allows various companies and consumers to "shop for insurance and compare prices in a regulated, competitive environment." Illegal immigrants can buy health insurance from private companies that don’t join the new exchange. Senator Kent Conrad stated that they were trying to keep any illegal immigrant from getting "federal benefits." It's still unsure if they will keep illegal immigrants from the exchange or allow them to participate in it. This topic rose because of Republican representative from North Carolina, Joe Wilson. If he hadn't screamed, "You lie!" while president Obama stated that the health care reforms wouldn't apply to illegal immigrants. There are two things wrong with that. One, he is a representative; he shouldn't shout when an important speech is being given. No matter what side he's on, he has to respect the president when he is talking. He’s not a child any more. Actually, even a child knows when not to interrupt like that. If he's going to act like a kid they should treat him like one and send him to the corner, and broadcast it so he can be embarrassed of himself for doing such a thing. I guess he was just exercising his freedom of speech, giving him the right to do shout in the middle of a speech. Still one should know when it's right to exercise it and when it's inappropriate. Yes, he apologized for it, but still. He should've been able to control himself. Two, why is it that an outburst like that has caused the white house to limit illegal immigrants' right to health care. It’s unfair how someone's life could be in the hands of a document. There’s some discrimination in the whit house's actions. Why give some more options than others. Illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to get better chances and the gov. is taking that away from them. They came here and lived here. The U.S. is their home too, and they have the right to have as many chances as those who have a document.

Obama is disappointed that unemployment rates are rising even higher. Washington says the economy is progressing but not fast enough. At this rate the economy will get worse before it gets better. The predictions are remaining the same, if not getting worse. The fact that economy is getting to a point that it's getting worse when it's getting better, shows that America is getting close to being in serious debt. Obama needs to make a decision on how to approach the issue. It’s understandable that he might need a while to plan something, and that the country can't make mistakes, but Obama needs to find a way to at least temporarily stall the decline in unemployment. People come here to get jobs and send money to their families; have a life job basically. If the economy keeps declining, people might begin to leave the U.S. to go somewhere else to find better jobs. It's part of a ripple effect. Economy is going down lowering money to businesses; businesses can't hire people, so they are losing their jobs and not receiving money; that money isn't being used to buy products, which means less money to businesses; etc. He should focus on fixing on one of the factors; maybe it’ll affect the others for the better.

Debts will rise

Debtsare going to rise over the next decade. It's predicted that the debt will rise to nearly $1.6 trillion. From 2010 - 2019, there will be a $9 trillion dollar deficit, which was $2 trillion more than it was originally estimated. The economy will lower by 2.5 and it'll become 2.8. This makes it harder for the country to get out of the recession, because people are going to be forced to raise taxes. Some action is going to have to be taken and the economy can't afford to get worse. Obama said he would nominate Ben Bernanke for a second term in the Federal Reserve. This helped ease some financial worries. With these predictions, Obama's goal to lower the deficit in half by 2013 will look more difficult to reach. It will also make it harder to reconstruct health care system. Unemployment will remain up to the next election. These predictions are just a sample of the hard road up ahead. It is becoming clear that the economy will become worse before it gets better. If Obama keeps his promise, then in 2013 we will look back and say,” Remember when our economy was really bad?" Then again these are only predictions, so they are subject to change. So just as fast as it looked as though we would be in even more debt it could look like we could get out of it faster.

Obama is on vacation...woop di do

Obama went on a family vacation to Martha's Vineyard. He golfed, worked out, and played tennis with Michelle Obama. By now it should be obvious that there are no politics involved in this article, besides the fact that the people named have a part in politics. But no economic issues, nothing on immigration, and so on. It's a good thing that Obama is having a vacation, but it shouldnt be the topic of a whole article. Maybe a "Obama is on vacation and he is having a good time" would've been enough. There's no need to write a whole articfle on it. White house officials stated it was a "private" vacation. Private, i believe, involves the family having their alone time. It's funny how even though the country is in trouble some people in politics have enough time to go to a resort for the very rich to have some time to enjoy their lives. They do deserve time alone and it's not that they're doing it wrong, but i dont think that it should be reported that their doing things that the rich do, while some readers could be having econmical problems. It makes it harder for them to reach those in lower classes. Agreed too much is being thought into this, but the sections where people are quoted to saying jokes should've been edited out. Some important things in the article were left until the end, and were briefly described. The economy was mentioned, but not as an issue; all that was said was that obama was getting reports on it even though he was away, and that was basically it. The most important thing of the whole article was the fact that Obama was going to try to achieve Senator Edward Kennedy's, who has brain cancer, career goals: "overhauling the nation's health insurance system to provide near-universal coverage." What is being said is that Obama is still being seen more as a star, than a president. Books are mentioned in the article; as if literature decides whether he is a good president or not. Last time anyone checked it was their actions that counted. the biggest example of Obama being seen as a star is when they got the dog. Seriously? He has become president and everyone cares what dog he got? i mean millions of people get dogs and the whole world isn't like ,"Really? What dog? Let's write a report," the response is usually a ," we don't care." Obama's political actions should be in the news; not information on how he is trying to live his life (especially not common things that people do, but only seem important because the president does it). Writers note: Yes, i know i was kind of a hypocrite, because i made a blog on a small thing, instead of focusing on big thing. The reason i did decided to do it anyway is that people have to realize what is news worthy. There are billions of people doing something, but the world has to stop when one man does the same thing as though it was some big achivement. This blog wasn't against Obama; i still hope he changes the U.S. for the better. This blog was against societies' idea of "important" news.

Obama is working on reforming education. Obama is working on lower high school dropout percentages, and to continue pursuing their education. Obama's goal is to make the United States' college graduate percentage higher than any other countries.Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Rev. Sharpton and Newt Gingrich are working to help Obama's cause. They're going across the country spreading Obama's idea of Americans who have a higher education can get better jobs. On Sept. 8 Obama is going to give a big speech to the students across the nation to let them know that education is important for them and the country. they want to show that there is no reason to not have an education. These men believe that education is the most important thing right now. agreed that it is, but the students and parents arent the only ones that decide wether or not to continue their education. sometimes there are good excuses like money or family problems. families who have financial problems should be helped first so they can have the option to continue their kids' education. Obama's speech is sure to be inspirational but the question is how many people will listen. Would it change anything? Chances are it wont have a really big impact, but it's a start.

Obama's 12 Billion Plan

Obama's plan consists of trying to raise the percentage of people going to college. he hopes that helping community colleges will also help people gain the skills needed in order to obtain a "new generation of jobs." president Obama stated ,"I love the folks who helped get us in this mess and then suddenly say, 'Well, this is Obama's economy. That's fine. Give it to me. My job is to solve problems, not to stand on the sidelines and harp and gripe," showing that he knows people are blaming him for the economy now and the one's that are really responsible are letting him take the blame. Senator Lamar Alexander believes that Obama's plan only sounds good, but it won't live up to what it's suppose to do. Obama is going to try and fix other people's mistakes, if it works then he'll me remebered as the man who helped fix the economy, but if he fails he'll be remembered as the man who tried to fix what others had ruined and took the blame with hopes of proving them wrong. Obama believes that things will get harder before it gets easier, and the way things are it seems like he's right. he is hoping that unemployment rate goes down as more people go to any type of college. this plan seems solid, but it seems like it requires a lot or cooperation, and there seems to be a lack of unity in these "United" states.

Sarah Palin: Resigned to Cash in on fame?

Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin's ex-fiance, accused Sarah Palin of resigning as the governor of Alaska in order to make some money. He stated that he lived with the Palin family for a while and that "She had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people had been offering us and you know just run with it, say 'forget everything else." Seeing that she had over $500,000 in legal fees, it's not hard to believe that she was planning to get away with the money in order to pay them off. However, as the article stated Johnston wants his own book and movie deal. His accusations could be based on facts or they could be entirely made up in order to cash in on her fame as well. It seems as though he is being a hypocrite. He said that book deals are really what interested Palin, but he is the one pursuing book deals. What about Palin wanting to make a book suggests that she wanted to run away with the money? Various of other politians have made books, George W. Bush even had a movie and his term was barely ending. i don't believe that she wanted to cash in on fame; she probably wanted to let people know about her life story. Johnston doesn't have a political career or isn't well known so he gains more from the whole scandal.
