Obama is on vacation...woop di do

Obama went on a family vacation to Martha's Vineyard. He golfed, worked out, and played tennis with Michelle Obama. By now it should be obvious that there are no politics involved in this article, besides the fact that the people named have a part in politics. But no economic issues, nothing on immigration, and so on. It's a good thing that Obama is having a vacation, but it shouldnt be the topic of a whole article. Maybe a "Obama is on vacation and he is having a good time" would've been enough. There's no need to write a whole articfle on it. White house officials stated it was a "private" vacation. Private, i believe, involves the family having their alone time. It's funny how even though the country is in trouble some people in politics have enough time to go to a resort for the very rich to have some time to enjoy their lives. They do deserve time alone and it's not that they're doing it wrong, but i dont think that it should be reported that their doing things that the rich do, while some readers could be having econmical problems. It makes it harder for them to reach those in lower classes. Agreed too much is being thought into this, but the sections where people are quoted to saying jokes should've been edited out. Some important things in the article were left until the end, and were briefly described. The economy was mentioned, but not as an issue; all that was said was that obama was getting reports on it even though he was away, and that was basically it. The most important thing of the whole article was the fact that Obama was going to try to achieve Senator Edward Kennedy's, who has brain cancer, career goals: "overhauling the nation's health insurance system to provide near-universal coverage." What is being said is that Obama is still being seen more as a star, than a president. Books are mentioned in the article; as if literature decides whether he is a good president or not. Last time anyone checked it was their actions that counted. the biggest example of Obama being seen as a star is when they got the dog. Seriously? He has become president and everyone cares what dog he got? i mean millions of people get dogs and the whole world isn't like ,"Really? What dog? Let's write a report," the response is usually a ," we don't care." Obama's political actions should be in the news; not information on how he is trying to live his life (especially not common things that people do, but only seem important because the president does it). Writers note: Yes, i know i was kind of a hypocrite, because i made a blog on a small thing, instead of focusing on big thing. The reason i did decided to do it anyway is that people have to realize what is news worthy. There are billions of people doing something, but the world has to stop when one man does the same thing as though it was some big achivement. This blog wasn't against Obama; i still hope he changes the U.S. for the better. This blog was against societies' idea of "important" news.

  1. I completely agree with you over the fact that Obama deserves privacy and respect instead of being a publicity toy. What Obama does seperate from politics should not be the epitomy of the obama reign of presidency. it is such a waste that the writers of the article spoke briefly of the economy and placed in much more jokes instead of talking much more in depth of the issues facing the country. This thought of what society believes to be relevant to importance is frightening because instead of respecting Obama as a man of change to most he is just a sort of celebrity
