Guantanamo might not close on January like Obama wanted to. this is due to the long process of reviewing each detainees' files. Obama wants to close the prison, because it so is crucial to restore America's view in the world and "to [create] a more effective anti-terror approach." Some of the problems that came with closing the prison were what new rules would military trials have to follow, where the detainees are going to be transferred to, and countries where the ones that are released can be sent to. Both the Democrats and the Republicans believe that it's a bad idea to close the prison. Democrats because Obama's plan isn't clear. Republicans because it's too dangerous at this time. Congress is not funding Obama's plan. The Justice Department and the Pentagon will work together to decide which detainees should be tried in military courts and which in civilian courts. On November sixteen, it will be known which detainees will be prosecuted. Why would Obama want to close a prison where "dangerous" people are being held. some might not deserve it, but why close the prison so quickly. Guantanamo is probably a safer place to have those prisoners because it's in an isolated are and not in an area surrounded by civilians.

Health Care will cost the U.S. money
The new Health Care bill will make big changes. one of the changes is to buy health care or be fined. Why would they be fined? there's no real logic to this, unless they are doing it to make up some of the $856 billion the new health care will cost the u.s. the people have wanted health care to change, but why force them to buy it? it's ironic how they are planning to pay for this new health care system by cutting government health programs. they are also going to make new taxes and fees. this is controversial because people usually obtain a negative opinion on anything that will create new taxes. it wouldn't be surprising if this bill lost some support when the new taxes were mentioned. the bill doesn't include Obama's plan to have a government-runed insurance plan. the bill will not allow illegal immigrants to obtain health coverage through the new health care system. this is hypocritical, the Constitution says that life can't be taken away. if an illegal immigrant's life depends on whether or not their health care covers it, and they aren't allowed to have any and die, wouldn't that technically be the government taking away some one's right to life? or the equal protection clause, why only keep certain people from being covered. so criminals can get health coverage because they are legal but a honest hard working illegal immigrant can't because they aren't legal? that's not fair at all. Federal funds won't pay for abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or the mother's life is in danger. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, stated that the bill doesn't makes sense. she states, "This partisan proposal cuts Medicare by nearly a half-trillion dollars, and puts massive new tax burdens on families and small businesses, to create yet another thousand-page, trillion-dollar government program. Only in Washington would anyone think that makes sense, especially in this economy." i would have to agree. yes it makes health care more affordable, but that money that isn't used will be used to pay those new taxes.

White House 's proposal might ban illegal immigrants from getting health care, even some provided by private companies. The new exchange allows various companies and consumers to "shop for insurance and compare prices in a regulated, competitive environment." Illegal immigrants can buy health insurance from private companies that don’t join the new exchange. Senator Kent Conrad stated that they were trying to keep any illegal immigrant from getting "federal benefits." It's still unsure if they will keep illegal immigrants from the exchange or allow them to participate in it. This topic rose because of Republican representative from North Carolina, Joe Wilson. If he hadn't screamed, "You lie!" while president Obama stated that the health care reforms wouldn't apply to illegal immigrants. There are two things wrong with that. One, he is a representative; he shouldn't shout when an important speech is being given. No matter what side he's on, he has to respect the president when he is talking. He’s not a child any more. Actually, even a child knows when not to interrupt like that. If he's going to act like a kid they should treat him like one and send him to the corner, and broadcast it so he can be embarrassed of himself for doing such a thing. I guess he was just exercising his freedom of speech, giving him the right to do shout in the middle of a speech. Still one should know when it's right to exercise it and when it's inappropriate. Yes, he apologized for it, but still. He should've been able to control himself. Two, why is it that an outburst like that has caused the white house to limit illegal immigrants' right to health care. It’s unfair how someone's life could be in the hands of a document. There’s some discrimination in the whit house's actions. Why give some more options than others. Illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to get better chances and the gov. is taking that away from them. They came here and lived here. The U.S. is their home too, and they have the right to have as many chances as those who have a document.
